   Indian Restaurant "Maharajah"
   Address: 24 Akhvlediani Str, Tbilisi
   Tel: 99 97 99

Maharaja - a great king of India. The word takes us back to the world of rajas and Hindu rulers of Historical India. That was all in past. Now I am going to open the doors into another world, the world of authentic Indian culture and cuisine - "Maharaja" restaurant.

I can't say that the stairs take you directly to India, but behind the heavy, wooden door you can really find something exotic, something engaging and so much welcoming that you will be willing to stay longer then supposed.

The interior is nice, with tender lights, light-red walls, dark green flowered arm-chairs and VIP room. You may smoke nargile with aromatized tobaccos after your meal as a replacement for cigarettes.

Not very long ago I happened to visit Maharaja to treat myself and a friend of mine to distinguished Indian tea (aromatic, black Indian tea, infused with spices and served with milk). We were short in time and had intended to stay there just for an hour. But while having astonishing liquid and chatting over different matters almost six hours passed without notice. We only felt that we were hungry and asked for the menu.

We have never been more spoilt in a restaurant, the staff treat you like royalty, food served is amazing, where else you can have roast chicken with "tika-masala"; I assure you - nowhere. the lamb was so much appetizing we could hardly wait to start dining. Then we ordered the "kir" sweet dish of pilau rice melting in mouth and splendid Indian yogurt "Raita", which you take slowly with a spoon as though you don't wish this paradise to come to an end.

Mainly they serve hot and chilly dishes but they are also pleased to consider your taste.

You don't have to wait for your meal for long, Indian chefs are skilled, waiters are polite and friendly and service is lovely.

We will go back there again to enjoy authentic dishes of India and talk about art in a stark ambient.

Doors are open from 12:00pm until the last visitor closes them
