On June 7 at 16:00 the exhibition "Sargis Kakabadze" will be opened in the exhibition pavilion of the National Archives of Georgia.
The historian and philologist Sargis Kakabadze was one of the founders of the national archive of Georgia (at the time, the Central Archive), and then was its leader. Thanks to his efforts, the National Archive Funds were filled with the most important documents.
The custodian of Sargis Kakabadze’s unique personal archive is her grandson of Tsira Kalandadze. With his help, archival documents of the historian will be presented to the public for the first time in the exhibition pavilion of the National Archives.
In addition to photo production, original documents will be exhibited which are kept in the Sarkis Kakabadze family archives: family photos and documents of the Kakabadze family, unpublished and completely unknown scientific works, archaeological objects belonging to Sargis Kakabadze; Interesting archival materials are related to Sargs, David and Artem Kakabadze.
Sargis Kakabadze left a rich heritage: monographs, scientific articles, epistolary heritage, photographic materials, invaluable documents related to the movement of Georgian treasures that are not yet published, therefore, are not included in the scientific circulation.
The exhibition, planned at the National Archives, is the first step towards a wide publication of this material. It should be noted that June 9 is the International Day of Archives. This exhibition is dedicated to one of the founders of the National Archives of Georgia.
The exposition will last one month, the visit is free.
